Required Materials
The Visa Office of the Chinese Embassy
in your country accepts visa, passport, notarization and authentication applications.
You’d better read the relevant instructions and collect the required materials before
submission.
2. Fill in a Visa Application Form detailedly;
3. One recent 2-inch passport photo (black & white or colored) attached on the application
form;
4. If your former nationality was Chinese, for the first time you apply for the
visa, you need to write down your Chinese name and original Chinese passport or
the copy is required.
5. Other relevant documents for different types of visa:
(1) For Business "F" visa: an official invitation letter from the authorized Chinese
government departments, companies or institutions is required.
(2) For Tourist/Family-visit "L" visa: Except travel to Tibet, no additional documents
are required for "L" visa applicants.
Please note that the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General does not issue individual
visa for tourists to Tibet. All applicants who travel to Tibet need to contact their
local travel agency to obtain confirmation for group (more than 5 people) visa.
How to apply
1. You may submit the application to the Visa Office of the
Chinese Embassy or Consulate -General which holds consular jurisdiction
over the state where you live in;
2. If you cannot come in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent
to drop off your application at the Embassy or Consulate –General;
3. Please note that applications by mailing are not acceptable and will be returned.
What’s more, no appointment is required.
Processing Time
1. The regular processing time is 4 working days.
2. Express service: 2-3 working days processing, $20 will be charged per visa.
3. Same day rush service for emergency business only, $30 will be charged per visa.
(Please note applications shall be presented before 12:30pm may be picked up between
2:30pm-3:00pm on the same day).
Visa fees
1. Visa, MasterCard, Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Company Check is acceptable.
2. Please make the company check, cashier's check or money order payable to Chinese
Embassy
3. Fee list: (American, Canadian, British for example)
